Salomon, Haym
(1740, Lissa, Polonia–6 ene. 1785, Filadelfia, Pa., EE.UU.).

Patriota y financista estadounidense. Obligado a huir de Polonia por sus actividades revolucionarias, llegó a Nueva York en 1772 y pronto se convirtió en un próspero comerciante y financista. Partidario de la causa patriota en la guerra de independencia de EE.UU., los británicos lo detuvieron y encarcelaron. En 1778 huyó a Filadelfia, donde abrió una oficina de corretaje. Realizó préstamos por sobre los US$600.000 para ayudar a financiar el nuevo gobierno, hizo préstamos privados sin interés a James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe y a otros, y obtuvo préstamos franceses para el gobierno estadounidense.
